The 2017/18 Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report will be launched on 24 October 2017. The GEM Report is an evidence-based annual report published by UNESCO. Its mandate is to monitor progress towards the education targets in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework.
In 2017, the GEM Report will continue its assessment of progress towards the SDG on education (SDG4) and its 10 targets. It will also investigate accountability in education, analysing how different groups can provide education more effectively, efficiently and equitably. The Report examines different accountability mechanisms that are used to hold governments, schools, teachers, parents, students, civil society, the international community and the private sector accountable for inclusive, equitable and quality education.
The Report will conclude with concrete recommendations.
